Press Red

We are delighted that in early October
the Anglican Churches on Walmersley Road
will be able to host one of the first public performances
of a new production by PRESS RED
See the bottom of this page for details.

Press Red is a charity which aims to educate, equip, and empower people
on issues of violence and abuse against women and girls.

The book of ‘Ruth’ is a live performance,
binding acting and original songs.
Memorised from the NIV translation, word for word,
this is an emotive retelling of the Old Testament classic.
A 50 minute performance using the best of acting and music
to reimagine scripture.

Actor, Matt Britton, and singer-songwriter, Emma Mould,
use the story of Ruth as a springboard to explore themes of love and justice.
In an age where millions are taking up the banner of #MeToo,
this timeless story offers simple, practical ways t
he church can work towards a world
where women are able to lead full meaningful lives in safety and security.

Alongside the performance, Press Red are launching their national,
‘Be like Boaz’ campaign. A call for men to help envision a world of equity and equality for all.

If God created every person in his image, it follows that every life should be equal in value, worthy of dignity and respect. Sadly, the endemic proportion of violence against women contradicts this. Whilst it is easy to feel hopeless in the face of such a challenge, the good news is that God has called the church to be part of the answer. Based upon the actions of Boaz, this campaign aims to help men become allies of gender justice, by equipping them with four practical but manageable things to do. All rooted in scripture.

This is such an important topic for us all, so do come and immerse yourself in Ruth

About Matt Britton

Following training as an actor, Matt has worked across Europe in professional theatre since 1997. As former artistic director of In Yer Face Christian Theatre Co, he forged a reputation for producing faith-based theatre accessible to non-theatre spaces and non-faith audiences. His work has seen him perform on commercial stage, radio and television, with his self-penned ‘in bloom’ winning a BBC playwright award, as well lecturing in acting, creative writing and prison theatre to undergraduates at UCLAN Manchester University. He has performed ‘Mark’s Gospel’ word for word, nationwide.

Married with four children, Matt is also part of the Proximity team developing resources for the Urban Church.

About Emma Mould

Singer/songwriter, Emma is known for her original mix of folk, folk soul, gospel and rock.
Her music has received radio play as well as being championed by the BBC introducing series.
A writer of deeply spiritual songs, she also lends her voice to social activism, and has sung out, spoken out, even acted out to end violence against women and girls.
Her last album, ‘exquisite’ was recorded live at Manchester Cathedral, whilst her latest songs are making waves in the industry.
Alongside her husband, Dom, and their two adventurous children, Emma can also be found leading worship music in both local church, and nationally.
