Mothers' Union in Manchester Diocese works with HMP Manchester, HMP Forest Bank and HMP Buckley Hall
In particular it supports those who visit, especially children.
We have collected clothing for those who arrive in unsuitable garments;
ensured that children receive Christmas gifts, and Easter eggs;
with support toys are regularly provided for the visits centre;
Out There is an organisation working to support families and we have been able to provide
craft items and help with a gardening project.
When people are discharged they often have nowhere to go
so the provision of basic necessities, in a decent rucksack,
can make all the difference.
A supply of reading glasses to HMP Forest Bank
enables many to widen their horizons through reading
and educational opportunities.
